German Youth Hostel Association

The Mirow 21 Hostel is a sustainable living center that demonstrates environmental sustainability in facility design and encourages wise practices by guests.

The newly constructed hostel has 120 beds, of which 50 are in decentralized bungalows for families. Among the most important features of the project are its:

  • Social-ecological construction
  • Almost CO2-neutral energy supply
  • Environmentally oriented management
  • Future-capable educational concept

In comparison with conventional energy sources, the operation of the Mirow 21 hostel results in CO2 emissions being reduced by 75 percent. Programs educate guests about the environmental design of the hostel and encourage the economical use of resources.
