Opening Doors, Opening Minds
Opening Doors, Opening Minds is an HI-USA initiative that uses the hostelling experience to encourage young people to become catalysts for intercultural exchange and understanding.
The program’s purpose is linked to HI-USA’s unique position in our local and global communities. As a nonprofit organization with local chapters (councils) and a national network of 75 hostels and links to 4000 hostels worldwide, HI-USA may be particularly well placed and effective to create trust and confidence between young people of different cultures and backgrounds.
Opening Doors, Opening Minds builds on the foundations of hostelling and the incredible experiences that young people have in hostels every day. It has four program elements:
